How Small Can You Make a Leather Wallet?
There is a small niche of leather crafting that involves making tiny little miniature leather items with great skill by hand, so we tried to give it a go! We made the smallest leather wallet we possibly could that had functional pockets and a money slot. The miniature wallet comes in at just 2.5″ x 1″…open! It is just 1″ x 1.25″ closed shut.
We made this wallet with a tumbled vegetable tanned leather that is about 1.5oz thick. We saddle stitched by hand using 1 of the three strands of thread in the normal thread we use, and tried to otherwise make the leather wallet the way we’d make our regular sized wallets. It’s not perfect by any means, but it was fun! And will make a great christmas tree ornament 🙂
