We asked our Woman of Spirit for March – bomb disposal expert, TV star and author Camilla Thurlow – to handpick her favourite designs from our spring collection.
Throughout 2021, we’re celebrating women who are working to make a real difference in the world: the leaders, the freethinkers and the voices for change that inspire us every day at Radley London. To coincide with this year’s International Women’s Day theme of #ChooseToChallenge, we sat down with Camilla Thurlow. Camilla is no stranger to challenging the stereotypes women are often faced with, from working as a bomb disposal expert to finding love on national TV, authoring a book and becoming a new mum. A firm believer in wearing the things she loves over constantly buying new, Camilla is a fan of timeless, classic pieces. These are the designs that really caught her eye.
“This bag is a classic. It would look perfect worn cross body for a work meeting with a tailored black blazer, but equally as stunning worn over the shoulder with a white knit and your favourite jeans. It elevates every look and is a total ‘Mary Poppins’ bag so you could easily wear it from day to night and still have everything you need.”
“Who doesn’t love a tote? Particularly a tote with a zip and in such beautiful, soft blush leather that makes the most substantial of bags look pretty and delicate. It is style and substance in one, and an investment that you’ll be thanking yourself for every time you reach in to grab your keys.”
“If you’re in the market for a backpack to last forever and look effortlessly chic in the process, you can’t beat this gorgeous design. Despite its beauty, you could totally get away with this as a ‘practical’ purchase.”
“There’s a reason why this shape is a Radley London classic. It ensures you look put together even if you always have a few coins rolling around at the bottom. This is the bag as a young girl I would have ‘borrowed’ from my mum’s wardrobe, along with a too big pair of heels, so that I could stomp around pretending to be a grown-up. It’s the type of bag that makes me feel like I’ve got everything together, and I love that I can still see myself in 20 years happily getting it out my wardrobe as an old favourite. A bag to last a lifetime.”
“I adore this little bag. It’s the ideal transitional piece for the changeable British spring weather. It would look gorgeous with a grey turtleneck dress one day and a floaty, floral dress the next, and the timeless shape means it will work for years to come and never go out of style.”
